PROVIDER SPONSORED ORGANIZATIONS (PSOs) – Class 8
Providers may organize as a group and integrate the delivery of services for the Medicare and Medicaid population without violation of antitrust statutes under certain circumstances. This type of organization is called a Provider Sponsored Organization and there are specific laws governing this area. So long as the provider group is in compliance with the laws regarding Provider Sponsored Organizations then the providers who would otherwise be considered competitors and unable to integrate services due to antitrust concerns may so organize and direct contract with employer groups.
