1. Discuss what you consider to be the most important terms in a physician’s medical service agreement with a Managed Care Organization.

List:

  • What you should look for in the agreement.
  • What is good/what is bad in the agreement.
  • How much negotiation power do you have and how do you use it.

2. Role playing: Negotiation of a medical service agreement between a physician and a Managed Care Organization.

3. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of having a single insurer account for a third of your income. In addition, analyze if this single insurer can “call the shots” and what is the recourse for the provider.
